How to Ship Heavy Machinery from Miami to Venezuela

Shipping a forklift, a tractor or equipment for a construction project isn’t the same as shipping a box. You need to coordinate transport within the US, choose the right ocean option and prepare the export documents. At Next Day Cargo we handle shipments of machinery and heavy equipment from Miami to Venezuela, from the point of origin to the final destination.

What heavy cargo we handle

We offer heavy cargo shipping, from forklifts to any kind of heavy material. Our team has broad experience handling construction materials and heavy equipment projects. The cargo we handle includes:

  • Forklifts and tractors.
  • Machinery and heavy equipment.
  • Construction and roofing materials.
  • Medical equipment.
  • Vehicles and engines.

See more details at heavy and dangerous cargo.

Step 1: ground transport to Miami

If your equipment isn’t in Miami, we handle ground transport of products and equipment from anywhere in the United States. We manage the entire ground logistics process, and we also repack, relabel, segregate and consolidate loose, palletized or containerized cargo. More at ground transport.

To quote the ground leg, have ready:

  • The origin and destination ZIP codes in the US.
  • The number of pieces or items.
  • The weight in pounds or kilos.
  • The dimensions in inches or centimeters.
  • A description of the equipment.

Step 2: choosing the ocean option

Machinery travels by sea, with departures from Miami every Friday and an estimated transit of 2 to 4 weeks, depending on Port of Miami traffic and customs in Venezuela. Depending on the size and type of equipment, we offer:

Option What it’s for
Exclusive container (FCL) Equipment and parts that fit in a full container just for your cargo
Consolidated and loose cargo (LCL) Smaller parts or equipment sharing a container
Ro/Ro Rolling equipment and vehicles
Break bulk Large or heavy cargo that doesn’t fit in a container
Barge Depending on the project and route

We help you choose the option after reviewing the measurements, weight and type of equipment.

Step 3: export documentation

We coordinate everything related to shipping and logistics, documentation and transport of heavy cargo. We work with cargo nationalization and consolidation (N.V.O.C.C.) and prepare the required export documents. Our customers benefit from our experience handling cargo through customs and from our relationships with customs brokers in several countries.

To process the shipment we need a copy of the equipment’s invoice or purchase receipt.

Step 4: protecting the cargo

For delicate parts or equipment we offer repacking in wooden crates, at an extra cost. Insurance terms depend on whether the shipment is door to door or not; ask us about them when you request your quote, especially for high-value equipment.

Step 5: payment and tracking

Shipments are prepaid. You can pay in dollars, in bolívares or a combination of both, by card, deposit or transfer. Follow your cargo with our package tracking.

Step 6: delivery in Venezuela

Door-to-door delivery is in the Caracas Metropolitan Area. If the equipment is going to the interior, we arrange delivery with a domestic carrier or a person with an address in Caracas; that leg has an extra cost paid to the carrier.

Spare parts and dangerous goods too

If you need to send urgent spare parts along with the machinery, you can ship them by air, leaving on Fridays and arriving in 3 to 4 business days. For batteries, oils, paints, chemicals and other dangerous goods, we’re IATA-certified agents for handling them; ask us before shipping.

How to request your quote

For commercial cargo, machinery or full containers, email us first at rates@nextdaycargo.com to plan the departure. Include:

  1. Description, make and model of the equipment.
  2. Measurements and weight.
  3. Current location of the equipment in the US.
  4. Delivery address in Venezuela.
  5. Value and invoice.

How to Calculate Your Box’s Volumetric Weight for Air and Ocean Shipping

Why can a large box of clothes cost more than a small box of tools? The answer is volumetric weight. In air shipping, it isn’t only what the box weighs that counts, but also the space it takes up. And in ocean shipping, you pay directly by volume. Learning to calculate it helps you estimate your shipment and pay less.

What volumetric weight is

Volumetric weight is a weight calculated from the box’s measurements. It reflects the space the cargo takes up on the plane. At Next Day Cargo, air shipments are charged by the greater of the actual weight and the volumetric weight.

Formula for air shipments

Volumetric weight (lb) = length × width × height (in inches) ÷ 139

Step by step:

  1. Measure the box’s length, width and height in inches, at its widest point.
  2. Multiply the three measurements.
  3. Divide the result by 139.
  4. Weigh the box in pounds.
  5. Compare: you’re charged the higher number.

Formula for ocean shipments

Cubic feet = length × width × height (in inches) ÷ 1728

By sea there’s no comparison with weight: you pay by cubic feet. A cubic inch is small; a cubic foot has 12 × 12 × 12 = 1,728 cubic inches, which is why you divide by 1728.

Examples

Box (inches) Cubic inches Air volumetric weight (÷139) Ocean cubic feet (÷1728)
12 × 12 × 12 1,728 ≈ 12.4 lb 1
18 × 18 × 18 5,832 ≈ 42 lb 3.375
24 × 18 × 18 7,776 ≈ 56 lb 4.5
24 × 24 × 24 13,824 ≈ 99.5 lb 8

Example 1: a light, large box

A 24 × 18 × 18 inch box of clothes weighs 20 pounds. Its volumetric weight is about 56 pounds. By air you’re charged for 56 pounds, not 20.

Example 2: a small, heavy box

A 12 × 12 × 12 inch box of tools weighs 35 pounds. Its volumetric weight is about 12.4 pounds. By air you’re charged for 35 pounds, the actual weight.

Example 3: the same box by sea

The box from example 1, by sea, is 4.5 cubic feet, whether it weighs 20 or 60 pounds.

How to measure your box properly

  • Measure the closed, packed box, not the product. The box is what travels.
  • Take the widest measurement on each side. If the box bulges, measure at the fullest point.
  • Use a rigid tape measure and write down all three measurements in inches.
  • Weigh the whole box on a scale, in pounds.
  • If you’re sending several boxes, calculate each one separately and add up the results.

To choose the right box before you measure, see our guide on how to pack boxes for shipping to Venezuela.

Common mistakes

  • Measuring only the product, not the box.
  • Mixing centimeters and inches in the same calculation.
  • Using the air formula (÷139) for an ocean shipment, or the other way around.
  • Forgetting that a light box can be charged for its volume.

If you measure in centimeters

Divide each measurement in centimeters by 2.54 to convert it to inches, then apply the formula. For example, 45.7 cm ≈ 18 inches.

How to lower volumetric weight

  • Use the smallest box your goods fit in without damage.
  • Don’t send half-empty boxes by air.
  • Combine your purchases: ask us to hold them and repack them into one box. Repackaging has an extra cost and is done with your authorization. More at repackaging.
  • Consider ocean if the cargo is bulky and can wait a few weeks.

From formula to cost

With the weight or cubic feet calculated, all you need is the rate. Venezuela rates are on shipping to Venezuela. For Honduras, Panama, Costa Rica and the rest of Central America, request a quote. In every case, when your cargo reaches our Miami warehouse, we email you the air and ocean cost.

Remember that some services are quoted separately, such as pickup anywhere in the US, repackaging or delivery outside the door-to-door areas.

Frequently asked questions

Why am I charged more than my box weighs?

Because air shipping charges the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight. If your box is large and light, you’re charged for its volume.

Does volumetric weight apply to ocean shipments?

By sea you pay by cubic feet (length × width × height in inches ÷ 1728), not by weight.

What measurements should I send for a quote?

Length, width and height in inches, weight in pounds, and the description and value of your goods.

How do I lower the cost?

With right-size boxes, by consolidating your purchases and by comparing air with ocean.

Air or Ocean to Venezuela: Which Is Best for Your Shipment from Miami

When you ship from Miami to Venezuela, the first decision is the method: air or ocean. Both leave Miami on Fridays and both deliver door to door in the Caracas Metropolitan Area, but they differ a lot in time and in how they’re charged. Choosing well can save you money or days of waiting. Here’s how to decide.

Quick comparison

Air cargo Ocean cargo
Departs Miami Friday Friday
Estimated time 3 to 4 business days 2 to 4 weeks
Charged by Greater of actual and volumetric weight (L × W × H ÷ 139) Cubic feet (L × W × H ÷ 1728)
Best for Small purchases, spare parts, urgent items Appliances, furniture, moves, vehicles, bulky cargo
Delivery Door to door in the Caracas Metropolitan Area Door to door in the Caracas Metropolitan Area

Times can vary with Port of Miami traffic and customs in Venezuela. For either method, your cargo must be in the warehouse at least one day before departure.

When to choose air

Air cargo is the choice when time matters. It works for:

  • Small or medium online purchases.
  • Spare parts you need to keep working.
  • Clothing, electronics and gifts that must arrive by a date.
  • Boxes that are heavy for their size.

By air you pay the greater of actual and volumetric weight. A compact, heavy box makes good use of the rate; a large, light box pays for its volume.

When to choose ocean

Ocean cargo suits bulky or heavy goods that can wait a few weeks. By sea you can ship vehicles, dry food, medicines, appliances, furniture, toys, spare parts and other products. We also handle:

  • Consolidated and loose cargo (LCL).
  • Exclusive containers (FCL).
  • Refrigerated and frozen cargo.
  • Break bulk, Ro/Ro and barge.
  • Vehicles, machinery and heavy equipment.
  • Dangerous goods: we’re IATA-certified agents for handling them.

By sea, weight doesn’t change the calculation: you pay by cubic feet. That’s why a refrigerator or a furniture set usually costs less by ship.

An example with the same box

A 24 × 18 × 18 inch box takes up 7,776 cubic inches:

  • Air: 7,776 ÷ 139 ≈ 56 pounds of volumetric weight. If the box weighs 30 pounds, you’re charged for 56.
  • Ocean: 7,776 ÷ 1728 = 4.5 cubic feet.

Multiply each result by the current rate on shipping to Venezuela and compare. Check each method’s minimum too. If the difference is large and you’re not in a hurry, the ship wins; if you need the box in days, the plane wins.

Before you measure, check our guide on how to pack boxes for shipping to Venezuela: a right-size box changes the result for both methods.

Three questions to decide

  1. Do you need it in less than a week? Choose air.
  2. Is the box large but light? Compare: air will charge by volume.
  3. Is it an appliance, furniture, a move or a vehicle? Choose ocean.

You can combine both

You don’t have to send everything the same way. Many customers send urgent items by air and heavy ones by sea. If your purchases reach the warehouse on different dates, each package has its own tracking number and can leave by the method you choose. You get 2 weeks of free storage to get organized, and repacking into one box at an extra cost.

If you shop on Amazon

If your purchases come from Amazon, use our Miami address as the delivery address, in the name of the person receiving in Venezuela: 8805 NW 35th Lane, Miami, FL 33172. That saves you 7% in Amazon taxes. Many stores ship in boxes bigger than needed; before choosing air, consider asking us to repack so you don’t pay for empty space. More at Amazon.

How to request your quote

When your cargo reaches the warehouse, we email you the air and ocean cost so you can choose. If you want to know before you buy, email cotizaciones@nextdaycargo.com with the measurements in inches, the weight in pounds, the description and the value. To process the shipment we need a copy of the invoice or purchase receipt.

Frequently asked questions

What days do shipments to Venezuela leave?

Both air and ocean cargo leave Miami on Fridays.

How long does each method take?

Air takes 3 to 4 business days and ocean takes 2 to 4 weeks.

Can I ship a vehicle?

Yes, by sea.

Do both methods include door-to-door delivery?

Yes, in the Caracas Metropolitan Area. Elsewhere, cargo goes with a domestic carrier, at a separate cost.

Shipping boxes from Miami to Panama is simple if you follow the right order. At Next Day Cargo we have departures every week from our Miami warehouse to Panama City, by air and by sea, with door-to-door delivery. This 2026 guide takes you step by step, from registration to delivery.

Before you start: air or ocean

Frequency 2 departures a week 1 departure a week
Estimated time 3 to 4 days 3 to 4 weeks, door to door
Charged by Greater of actual and volumetric weight Volume, in cubic feet
Best for Spare parts, electronics, purchases needed soon Furniture, appliances, inventory

Step 1: register the person receiving in Panama

Step 2: prepare and label your boxes

  • Use sturdy, right-size boxes. By air, you pay the greater of actual and volumetric weight, so empty space costs money.
  • Mark each box with the name of the person receiving in Panama, the full delivery address and the recipient’s phone numbers. This step is required if you drop off the boxes yourself.
  • For delicate items, ask for repacking in wooden crates, at an extra cost.

Step 3: get the boxes to our warehouse

You have three ways:

  1. Drop them off at 8805 NW 35th Lane, Miami, FL 33172.
  2. Ship them with UPS, FedEx, USPS or another carrier to that address, in the name of the person receiving in Panama.
  3. Have us pick them up anywhere in the US. Pickup has an extra cost that depends on the city; request your quote.

If you shop online, use the same address. On Amazon, using our Miami address saves you 7% in taxes. More at Amazon.

Step 4: combine your shipments if it helps

You get 2 weeks of free storage in our Miami warehouse. If you’re expecting several boxes or purchases, ask us to hold them so they ship together. With your authorization, and at an extra cost, we can also combine them into one box to reduce the volume.

Step 5: send your invoice and get your quote

Send a copy of the invoice or purchase receipt to facturas@nextdaycargo.com. We quote by weight or volume, and you choose air or ocean. Remember: goods must be in our warehouse at least one day before departure.

  • Air: length × width × height in inches ÷ 139 = volumetric weight in pounds. You pay the greater of this and the actual weight.
  • Ocean: length × width × height in inches ÷ 1728 = cubic feet.

Step 6: pay and track

Shipments are prepaid by credit or debit card, deposit or transfer, also through online payments. Then you can follow your cargo with our package tracking.

Step 7: delivery in Panama

We deliver door to door at the address you give us in Panama City. If your shipment goes to the interior, we arrange delivery with a local courier; that leg has an extra cost paid to that company. We don’t offer pickup at our offices.

What you can ship

We ship personal purchases, commercial goods and general cargo. If you have questions about an item, ask us before sending it to Miami.

Insurance

We offer insurance for goods shipped from Miami to Panama. Coverage depends on the type of service, door to door or not. Ask us about the terms for your shipment.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Sending boxes before registering the recipient.
  • Boxes without the recipient’s name, address or phone numbers.
  • Arriving at the warehouse on departure day.
  • Using large, half-empty boxes for air shipments.

Buy on Amazon and eBay and Receive in Costa Rica: Air or Ocean

Amazon, eBay and US online stores carry products you sometimes can’t find in Costa Rica, or find at a different price. With Next Day Cargo you shop with our Miami address and receive in San José, by air or ocean. This guide shows you how to do it and how to choose the method that suits you best.

How it works

  1. Register for free. Register the person who will receive in Costa Rica in our Customer Registration.
  2. Shop and ship to our Miami warehouse: 8805 NW 35th Lane, Miami, FL 33172, in the name of the person receiving in Costa Rica.
  3. We let you know when it arrives. When we receive your package, our system sends you an automatic email.
  4. Send your invoice and pay. Send us a copy of the invoice or purchase receipt, get your quote and prepay your shipment by credit or debit card, deposit or transfer, also through online payments.
  5. Track your package from Miami to San José with our package tracking.

Save 7% on Amazon

When you use our Miami address as your Amazon delivery address, you save 7% in taxes. More at Amazon.

Repackaging: don’t pay for big boxes

Many Amazon and eBay purchases arrive in boxes much bigger than needed, or double-boxed. With your prior authorization and for an extra fee, we repack all your products into a single cardboard box. That reduces the cargo volume and saves you money on shipping. For fragile or valuable items we offer repacking in wooden crates.

If you’re expecting several packages, tell us to hold them so they ship together. You get 2 weeks of free storage in our Miami warehouse.

Air or ocean to Costa Rica

Air Ocean
Departs Miami Tuesday and Friday Friday
Estimated time About 1 week 2 to 4 weeks
Charged by Greater of actual and volumetric weight Volume, in cubic feet
Best for Online purchases, spare parts, electronics, clothing, household items Furniture, appliances, large purchases

When to choose air

With two departures a week, air is the practical way to bring your online purchases, spare parts, electronics, clothing and household items. You pay the greater of the actual weight in pounds and the volumetric weight, which is length × width × height in inches divided by 139. That’s why good packing can make a real difference in what you pay.

When to choose ocean

For bulky or heavy shipments, like furniture, appliances or large purchases, ocean is usually the most economical option, because it’s charged by volume: length × width × height in inches ÷ 1728 gives cubic feet. It leaves every Friday and takes 2 to 4 weeks.

A simple rule

If it’s light and you need it soon, choose air. If it takes up a lot of space and can wait a few weeks, compare with ocean. If in doubt, send us the measurements and weight and we’ll quote both.

Delivery in San José and the rest of Costa Rica

We deliver door to door in San José, at the address you give us. If your shipment goes to another province, we arrange delivery with a local courier; that leg has an extra cost paid to that company. We don’t offer pickup at our offices.

Insurance

We offer insurance for goods shipped from Miami to Costa Rica. Its terms depend on whether the shipment is door to door or not. Ask us when you request your quote.

Cutoff

Your goods must be in our warehouse at least one day before departure. To leave on a Friday, your purchase must reach Miami by Thursday.

Frequently asked questions

How long does an air shipment from Miami to Costa Rica take?

It leaves Tuesday and Friday and arrives in about 1 week.

Can you combine my Amazon and eBay purchases into one box?

Yes. With your authorization and for an extra fee, we repack your purchases into one box to reduce the volume and the shipping cost.

Do you deliver outside San José?

We deliver door to door in San José. For other provinces we arrange delivery with a local courier, at an extra cost paid to that company.

Will you tell me when my purchase reaches Miami?

Yes, our system sends you an automatic email when each package arrives.

Repackaging and Consolidation in Miami: How to Pay Less to Ship Your Purchases

When you shop at several US stores, each order arrives in Miami in its own box, often a box much larger than needed. If you ship everything that way, you pay for empty space. With Next Day Cargo’s repackaging and consolidation you can combine your purchases and ship them in fewer, smaller, better-protected boxes to Venezuela, Honduras, Panama, Costa Rica and the rest of Central America.

What repackaging is

Repackaging means taking your products out of their original boxes and putting them in a new box of the right size. With your prior authorization, and at an extra cost, we offer two kinds of repackaging:

  • Into a single cardboard box, to combine several purchases and reduce the volume.
  • Into wooden crates, for fragile, delicate or valuable items that need more protection during the trip.

Our repackaging staff aims for two things: lowering the weight and volume of the cargo, and increasing the protection of your shipment.

What consolidation is

Consolidating means grouping several packages so they leave in the same shipment. By default, when packages arrive on different dates or from different suppliers, each one enters the system with its own tracking number and ships separately. That way we can track each package from start to finish.

If you prefer, you can ask us to hold your packages until they all arrive, so they leave together, and to repack them into a single box.

Why you save

By air, you pay the greater of the actual weight and the volumetric weight of the box (length × width × height in inches ÷ 139). By sea, you pay by cubic feet (length × width × height in inches ÷ 1728). Either way, box size counts. A large, half-empty box costs the same as a full one.

Example: two purchases arrive in 16 × 12 × 12 inch boxes, but their contents fit in a single 16 × 12 × 12 box. With two boxes you pay for 2 × 2,304 = 4,608 cubic inches; with one, for 2,304. That’s half the volume.

How to request it, step by step

  1. Register the recipient for free in our Customer Registration.
  2. Shop with our address: 8805 NW 35th Lane, Miami, FL 33172, in the recipient’s name. On Amazon, using our address saves you 7% in taxes. More at Amazon.
  3. Get the notice: when each package arrives, our system sends you an automatic email.
  4. Give us instructions: tell us which packages you’re expecting, ask us to hold them until they all arrive, and say whether you want cardboard or wooden-crate repackaging.
  5. Send your invoices or purchase receipts and get your quote.
  6. Pay and track: shipments are prepaid. Follow your cargo with our package tracking.

Storage: 2 weeks free

While you gather your purchases, you get 2 weeks of free storage in our Miami warehouse. After that, goods move to long-term storage at a cost, or must be shipped. Plan your purchases so they arrive within that window.

When consolidating doesn’t pay off

  • If something is urgent, ship it as soon as it arrives, by air, instead of waiting for the rest.
  • If the packages already come in right-size boxes, repackaging may not change the volume much. Ask us first.
  • If your cargo must leave on a certain date, remember it must be in the warehouse at least one day before departure.

Departure days by destination

Frequently asked questions

Does repackaging cost extra?

Yes, repackaging has an extra cost and is done only with your prior authorization.

How long do you hold my packages?

You get 2 weeks of free storage in Miami. After that, goods move to long-term storage at a cost, or must be shipped.

Why did my packages ship separately?

Moving from Miami to Venezuela: How to Ship Your Household Goods by Sea

If you’re moving back to Venezuela or want to send your furniture and household goods, ocean freight is the practical way to do it. At Next Day Cargo we handle moves from Miami to Venezuela, with departures every Friday and door-to-door delivery in the Caracas Metropolitan Area. Here’s how it works, what cargo options you have and what to keep in mind about payment.

Why ocean freight for a move

A move is usually bulky and heavy: furniture, appliances, boxes of clothes and household items, sometimes a vehicle. Ocean cargo is charged by volume, in cubic feet, not by weight, which makes it the right fit for this kind of shipment.

Moving by sea
Departs Miami Every Friday
Estimated transit 2 to 4 weeks, depending on Port of Miami traffic and customs in Venezuela
Charged by Cubic feet: length × width × height in inches ÷ 1728
Delivery Door to door in the Caracas Metropolitan Area

Shared space or a full container

Depending on the size of your move, you can choose:

  • Consolidated and loose cargo (LCL): your move shares a container with other cargo and you pay only for the space it takes. Good for small or medium moves.
  • Exclusive containers (FCL): a full container for your cargo. Good when the move is large.
  • Vehicles: we also ship vehicles by sea, with Ro/Ro service and other options.

If you’re not sure which is right for you, send us a description of what you want to ship, with approximate measurements, and we’ll help you choose.

What you can ship in your move

By sea you can ship vehicles, dry food, medicines, appliances, furniture, toys, spare parts and other products to Venezuela. If you have questions about a specific item, ask us before you pack it.

How to ship your move, step by step

  1. Register the recipient for free in our Customer Registration. The recipient’s cédula works as their customer number.
  2. Request your quote at cotizaciones@nextdaycargo.com with a description of the move, approximate measurements and values.
  3. Get the move to our warehouse: 8805 NW 35th Lane, Miami, FL 33172. You can drop it off or have us pick it up anywhere in the US; pickup has an extra cost that depends on the city.
  4. Pay on time: for moves, the shipping and storage cost must be paid within the first 10 days after the move arrives at our Miami warehouse.
  5. Track your cargo with our package tracking until delivery.

Packing and protection

To choose boxes, protect fragile items and label correctly, see our guide on how to pack boxes for shipping to Venezuela.

Pack and mark each box with the recipient’s name, full address and phone numbers. For fragile or valuable items we offer repacking in wooden crates, which give more protection during the trip; repackaging has an extra cost and is done with your prior authorization.

Insurance terms depend on whether the shipment is door to door or not. Ask us about them when you request your quote, especially if your move includes valuable items.

Payment

Shipments are prepaid. You can pay in dollars, in bolívares or a combination of both, by credit or debit card, deposit or transfer, also through online payments. Since the bolívar exchange rate changes daily, if you don’t pay on the day of the quote, ask for the updated rate. Remember the 10-day deadline for moves.

Delivery in Venezuela

We deliver door to door in the Caracas Metropolitan Area, at the address you give us. If your move is going to the interior, we’ll contact you to hand it to a domestic carrier or to a person with an address in Caracas; the leg from Caracas to the interior has an extra cost paid to the carrier. There’s no pickup at our offices.

How to Ship Boxes to Venezuela from Anywhere in the USA

You don’t need to live in Miami to ship boxes to Venezuela with Next Day Cargo. From any US state you can get your boxes to our Miami warehouse, and from there they leave by air or ocean for Venezuela, with door-to-door delivery in the Caracas Metropolitan Area. This guide is for people shipping from Texas, New York, California or any other city.

Overview: from your city to Caracas

  1. Register the recipient in Venezuela for free.
  2. Get the boxes to our Miami warehouse: with your own carrier or with our pickup.
  3. Send the invoice or receipt and get your quote.
  4. Pay and track your shipment until delivery.

Step 1: register the recipient

Register the person receiving in Venezuela in our Customer Registration. It’s free and asks for full name, cédula (Venezuelan ID), RIF if applicable, address, phone numbers and email. The recipient’s cédula works as their customer number, so keep it handy.

Step 2: choose how your boxes get to Miami

You have two options from outside Miami:

Option A: ship them to our warehouse yourself

Send your boxes with the carrier you prefer, such as UPS, FedEx or USPS, to this address:

Recipient’s full name in Venezuela 8805 NW 35th Lane, Miami, FL 33172

Always use the name of the person receiving in Venezuela, not the name of Next Day Cargo staff. Keep your carrier’s tracking number to follow the box to Miami. When we receive it, the system sends you an automatic arrival email.

Option B: have us pick them up

We pick up your shipment anywhere in the US. Pickup isn’t included in the shipping rate and its cost depends on the city, so ask for a quote first. To get a quote, have ready the origin ZIP code, the number of boxes, the weight, the measurements and a description of the contents.

If you shop online

If you shop on Amazon or other stores, use our Miami address as the delivery address, in the recipient’s name. With Amazon, using our address saves you 7% in taxes. More at Amazon.

Step 3: pack and label properly

For more detail, see our guide on how to pack boxes for shipping to Venezuela.

  • Use the right-size box. By air, you pay the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight (length × width × height in inches ÷ 139). A box with lots of empty space costs more.
  • Mark each box with the recipient’s name, full address and phone numbers.
  • For delicate items, we can repack them in wooden crates in Miami, at an extra cost.
  • If you send several boxes on different dates, each one enters the system with its own tracking number and travels separately. If you’d rather they ship together, ask us to hold them until they all arrive. You get 2 weeks of free storage.

Step 4: invoice, quote and payment

To process the shipment we need a copy of the invoice or purchase receipt; send it to facturas@nextdaycargo.com. Once the cargo is in the warehouse, you’ll get an email with the air and ocean cost so you can choose.

Shipments are prepaid, in dollars, bolívares or a combination of both. In dollars you can pay by card on online payments or by transfer. After paying, send the receipt and the tracking number to pagos@nextdaycargo.com.

Step 5: departure and delivery in Venezuela

Air Ocean
Departs Miami Friday Friday
Estimated transit 3 to 4 business days 2 to 4 weeks
Charged by Greater of actual and volumetric weight Cubic feet (L × W × H ÷ 1728)

Plan the days: your boxes must be in our warehouse at least one day before departure. If they’re coming from another state, add your carrier’s transit time to Miami.

You can follow your cargo with our package tracking. Door-to-door delivery is in the Caracas Metropolitan Area. For other cities, cargo leaves Caracas with a domestic carrier and that leg is paid separately. There’s no pickup at our offices.

Tips for shipping from far away

  • Get the pickup quote before choosing between our pickup and your own carrier.
  • Plan the dates: if you want a Friday departure, work out when your box will reach Miami.
  • Ask about insurance when you request your quote: its terms depend on whether the shipment is door to door or not.
  • Check current rates on shipping to Venezuela.

How Much Does It Cost to Ship a Box to Venezuela from Miami? How It’s Calculated

Before asking how much it costs to ship a box to Venezuela, it helps to know how that cost is calculated. With Next Day Cargo, the price depends on the method you choose (air or ocean), the size and weight of the box, and a few optional services. Current rates are always on our shipping to Venezuela page, because they change often. Here’s how the final number is reached, so you can estimate and save.

The two methods: air and ocean

Air cargo Ocean cargo
Departs Miami Friday Friday
Transit time 3 to 4 business days 2 to 4 weeks
How it’s charged Per pound: the greater of actual weight and volumetric weight By volume: cubic feet
Best for Small boxes, urgent items Large or heavy boxes, appliances, furniture

Both include door-to-door delivery in the Caracas Metropolitan Area. To leave on a Friday, the box must be in our warehouse at least one day before.

How the air cost is calculated

By air, you pay for the greater of the actual weight and the volumetric weight. Actual weight is what the scale shows, in pounds. Volumetric weight measures the space the box takes up on the plane:

Volumetric weight (lb) = length × width × height (in inches) ÷ 139

Example: an 18 × 18 × 18 inch box takes up 5,832 cubic inches. Divided by 139, its volumetric weight is about 42 pounds. If the box weighs 25 pounds on the scale, you’re charged for 42 pounds, because the volume is greater than the weight. If it weighed 50 pounds, you’d be charged for 50.

That’s why, by air, a light but large box can cost more than you expect. A box of the right size makes a big difference. Our guide on how to pack boxes for shipping to Venezuela explains how to choose, measure and weigh the box.

How the ocean cost is calculated

By sea, you pay by volume, in cubic feet:

Cubic feet = length × width × height (in inches) ÷ 1728

With the same 18 × 18 × 18 inch box: 5,832 ÷ 1728 = 3.375 cubic feet. Weight doesn’t change the calculation here, so ocean is the better fit for heavy or bulky items that can wait a few weeks, like appliances or furniture.

To multiply by the rate, check the air rate per pound and the ocean rate per cubic foot, with their minimums, on shipping to Venezuela. We recommend confirming the rate before you book.

What can add to the cost

Some services are optional or depend on your case, and are quoted separately:

  • Pickup: we pick up your shipment anywhere in the US. Pickup isn’t included in the shipping rate and its cost depends on the city.
  • Repackaging: if you want us to combine your purchases into a single box or use a wooden crate for something delicate, there’s an extra cost.
  • Delivery outside Caracas: door-to-door delivery is in the Caracas Metropolitan Area. For the rest of the country, cargo leaves Caracas with a domestic carrier, and that leg is paid separately to that company.
  • Storage: you get 2 weeks of free storage in Miami. After that, goods move to long-term storage at a cost, or must be shipped.
  • Insurance: the terms depend on whether the shipment is door to door or not. Ask us when you request your quote.

How to pay

Shipments are prepaid. You can pay in dollars, in bolívares or a combination of both. Since the bolívar exchange rate changes daily, if you don’t pay on the day of the quote, ask for the updated rate. In dollars you can pay by card on our online payments page or by transfer.

5 ways to pay less for your shipment

  1. Choose the right method: if it isn’t urgent and the box is large or heavy, compare with ocean.
  2. Use the right-size box: by air, the empty space inside the box is charged too.
  3. Combine your purchases: ask us to hold them until they all arrive and repack them into one box.
  4. Save 7% on Amazon: when you use our Miami address as the delivery address, you save 7% in Amazon taxes. More at Amazon.
  5. Request your quote with complete details: measurements in inches, weight in pounds, description and value.

How to request your quote

Email cotizaciones@nextdaycargo.com with the measurements in inches, the weight in pounds, and the description and value of your goods. If your cargo is already in our warehouse, you’ll get an email with the air and ocean cost so you can choose. To process the shipment we need a copy of the invoice or purchase receipt.
