How to Ship Heavy Machinery from Miami to Venezuela

Shipping a forklift, a tractor or equipment for a construction project isn’t the same as shipping a box. You need to coordinate transport within the US, choose the right ocean option and prepare the export documents. At Next Day Cargo we handle shipments of machinery and heavy equipment from Miami to Venezuela, from the point of origin to the final destination.

What heavy cargo we handle

We offer heavy cargo shipping, from forklifts to any kind of heavy material. Our team has broad experience handling construction materials and heavy equipment projects. The cargo we handle includes:

  • Forklifts and tractors.
  • Machinery and heavy equipment.
  • Construction and roofing materials.
  • Medical equipment.
  • Vehicles and engines.

Step 1: ground transport to Miami

If your equipment isn’t in Miami, we handle ground transport of products and equipment from anywhere in the United States. We manage the entire ground logistics process, and we also repack, relabel, segregate and consolidate loose, palletized or containerized cargo. More at ground transport.

To quote the ground leg, have ready:

  • The origin and destination ZIP codes in the US.
  • The number of pieces or items.
  • The weight in pounds or kilos.
  • The dimensions in inches or centimeters.
  • A description of the equipment.

Step 2: choosing the ocean option

Machinery travels by sea, with departures from Miami every Friday and an estimated transit of 2 to 4 weeks, depending on Port of Miami traffic and customs in Venezuela. Depending on the size and type of equipment, we offer:

Option What it’s for
Exclusive container (FCL) Equipment and parts that fit in a full container just for your cargo
Consolidated and loose cargo (LCL) Smaller parts or equipment sharing a container
Ro/Ro Rolling equipment and vehicles
Break bulk Large or heavy cargo that doesn’t fit in a container
Barge Depending on the project and route

We help you choose the option after reviewing the measurements, weight and type of equipment.

Step 3: export documentation

We coordinate everything related to shipping and logistics, documentation and transport of heavy cargo. We work with cargo nationalization and consolidation (N.V.O.C.C.) and prepare the required export documents. Our customers benefit from our experience handling cargo through customs and from our relationships with customs brokers in several countries.

To process the shipment we need a copy of the equipment’s invoice or purchase receipt.

Step 4: protecting the cargo

For delicate parts or equipment we offer repacking in wooden crates, at an extra cost. Insurance terms depend on whether the shipment is door to door or not; ask us about them when you request your quote, especially for high-value equipment.

Step 5: payment and tracking

Shipments are prepaid. You can pay in dollars, in bolívares or a combination of both, by card, deposit or transfer. Follow your cargo with our package tracking.

Step 6: delivery in Venezuela

Door-to-door delivery is in the Caracas Metropolitan Area. If the equipment is going to the interior, we arrange delivery with a domestic carrier or a person with an address in Caracas; that leg has an extra cost paid to the carrier.

Spare parts and dangerous goods too

If you need to send urgent spare parts along with the machinery, you can ship them by air, leaving on Fridays and arriving in 3 to 4 business days. For batteries, oils, paints, chemicals and other dangerous goods, we’re IATA-certified agents for handling them; ask us before shipping.
